Before I start posting about the province of Henan and the trek we will be taking this fall, I wanted to talk about Brynn's heart. We knew that our daughter would have a heart defect, as we requested one on our paperwork. What we didn't know was exactly what heart defect she would have. We knew God had that part under control. Brynn was born with a heart defect called VSD. A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect in the septum between the right and left ventricle. The septum is a wall that separates the heart’s left and right sides. Septal defects are sometimes called a “hole” in the heart. It’s the most common congenital heart defect in the newborn; it’s less common in older children and adults because some VSDs close on their own. There are several things we know concerning Brynn's heart, and several that we will not know until she is here with us and we are able to take her to the cardiologist. We sent her file to 4 different cardiologists for review. Due to the translation barrier, the questionable equipment used, and the fact that our information is 8 months old, the cardiologists are just not sure exactly what we are dealing with when it comes to the health of her heart. What we do know is that she was born with a very large VSD. They have yet to perform surgery in China to repair it. Because of her heart condition, the orphanage sent her to the foster care facility for better care. If she had stayed in the orphanage she would not have lived. We will forever be grateful to her foster care facility (more about it coming up) and the level of care they have given our daughter. Our last report said that her heart was stable. We are praying that it stays stable until we can get her the medical care she needs. It is likely that she will undergo open-heart surgery when she gets home. What we do not know is how leaving her heart unrepaired has effected the health of her lungs and other parts of her heart. Our prayer is that God has protected her lungs and heart until she is able to receive the proper medical care.

I will be praying for her heart specifically now. I just love her already!
We are praying and believing that God has protected Brynn's heart and lungs and all will go smoothly once she is here.
We pray everynight that Brynn's heart will stay strong and that God will protect her until she is home!
Brynn is so blessed to have a family ready to get the help she needs. You have done your research and I am praying that God will have control of the rest of her amazing story. Praying for you and Robert too as I know this is something that is so tough for a parent to face.
Praying for Brynn and for you all.
